Atelier Photosensible
Atelier Photosensible est un espace de création, de recherche et de transmission fondé par l’artiste visuelle Émilie Léger, au Québec. On y explore la lumière comme matière vivante, et la photographie comme acte de mémoire et de lien.
Au cœur de sa pratique, les procédés du cyanotype et du lumen deviennent des langages hybrides. Ils s’entrelacent à d’autres médiums, collage-poésie, papier, textile, végétal, pour révéler des œuvres où se mêlent empreinte, récit et temps.
Chaque image porte la trace d’un territoire, d’un souvenir, d’un visage retrouvé dans la lumière.
Les projets de l’Atelier s’ancrent souvent dans la mémoire collective et le patrimoine sensible, en intégrant des photographies d’archives personnelles issues des participant·e·s.
À travers des projets tels que Mon île en bleu (entente de développement culturel - Ville de Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot et Ministère de la culture et des communications), l’atelier invite les communautés à revisiter leur histoire à travers la lenteur du geste photographique et la beauté du bleu.
L’Atelier Photosensible est aussi un lieu de médiation et d’éco-création, où l’on apprend à regarder autrement, à ralentir, à créer avec le vivant plutôt que sur lui. Entre photographie expérimentale, poésie visuelle et mémoire territoriale, la démarche propose un art à la fois doux et engagé :
une écologie de la lumière et du regard.

Atelier Photosensible is a space for creation, research, and transmission founded by visual artist Émilie Léger, based in Québec, Canada. It explores light as a living substance, and photography as an act of memory and connection.
At the heart of its practice, the cyanotype and lumen processes become hybrid languages. They intertwine with other mediums (poetic collage, paper, textile, and botanical materials) to reveal works where imprint, narrative, and time converge.
Each image carries the trace of a territory, a memory, a face rediscovered in the light.
The Atelier’s projects are often rooted in collective memory and sensitive heritage, integrating personal archival photographs contributed by participants.
Through projects such as Mon île en bleu (Cultural Development Agreement – City of Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot and the Québec Ministry of Culture and Communications), the Atelier invites communities to revisit their own history through the slowness of the photographic gesture and the quiet beauty of blue.
Atelier Photosensible is also a space of mediation and eco-creation, where we learn to see differently, to slow down, and to create with the living rather than upon it. Between experimental photography, visual poetry, and memory of place, the approach proposes an art that is both gentle and engaged: an ecology of light and perception.
